South By Southwest and…douchebags?

I’ve recently found out that I will be attended South By Southwest Interactive this year (insert squeal here), so my past few days have been a crash course on the panels, events, venues, etc.

In everything I’ve read there seems to be one commonality. Douchebags.

I can’t recall a situation where I’ve seen the word douchebag used so frequently and casually. (Well, maybe Foursquare.) But it seems to be the opinion of many bloggers and conference attendees that SxSW is littered with d-bags.

There’s event a panel this year entitled How To Not Be a Douchebag at SXSW.

So…why? Has anyone seen any examples of douchebag behavior at SXSW?
